We're excited to announce the restocking of our classic Harness pants, tailor-made for the adventurous yet style-conscious. These are not just any pants; they're a product of real climbing experiences and a quest to blend the comfort of sports pants with the finesse of regular wear. At Rúngne, our mission was clear: create pants that are as comfy as they are stylish.
We tackled this by focusing on the fabric. Our breakthrough came with Fighter, a unique fabric from a French family-run mill, striking the perfect balance between comfort and durability.
These pants are more than just comfortable; they're practical. They dry quickly when wet and resist spills effectively. Plus, we've engineered them to endure, with specially designed seams for maximum stretch and durability.
And it seems we've hit the mark. You seem to love them – climbers are praising their stretchiness and fit, and everyday wearers are all about their comfort and style. Our Harness pants have become a perfect choice for any adventure, keeping you comfy and stylish wherever life takes you!

You've seen the terms "sustainable" and "ethical" thrown around a lot, especially when it comes to apparel. We've used them too, incorporating organic cotton and recycled materials into our gear. But we had to ask ourselves: is this just marketing, or are we genuinely making a difference?
Why We're Not Our Own Judges
Here's the thing: it's easy for companies to invent their own definitions of what's "ethical" or "sustainable." It's even easier to be your own judge and jury, setting convenient benchmarks that look good on paper but don't necessarily make a meaningful impact. We don't want to go down that road. That's why we're committed to internationally recognized benchmarks and certifications. You can read more about our commitment in our Responsible Business Policy.
The Importance of External Certification
We're in the process of getting certified against some of the industry's most rigorous standards. Why? Because we believe in accountability and transparency. External certification means we're not just meeting our own self-defined criteria; we're meeting—and aiming to exceed—globally recognized benchmarks. This isn't a quick process; it's a rigorous one, and we're committed to earning that stamp of approval within the next six months.
Beyond Partial Efforts
Doing a little bit of good here and there isn't enough. It's like driving an electric car but ignoring other high-impact activities, like excessive air travel. We're committed to a holistic approach that goes beyond just environmental concerns.
Social Responsibility: A Non-Negotiable
Being responsible isn't just about the environment; it's about people too. We're talking fair labor practices, safe work environments, and a culture of respect for everyone involved in making RUNGNE what it is today.
Join the Movement
When you choose RUNGNE, you're not just getting quality gear; you're joining a movement. A movement that's committed to making a real, measurable difference in the world, from the materials we use to the way we treat our people.
So, are you ready to climb responsibly with us?
Do you really need separate climbing clothes, or could you just wear your everyday clothes for climbing and working out? The answer is yes – you could, but with Rúngne Apparel, you'd be even better off! Let's explore the benefits of using everyday clothes for climbing, and how our gear takes it to the next level.
Economic Benefits: Wearing everyday clothes for climbing can save you some cash by not requiring a separate wardrobe for your athletic pursuits. With Rúngne Apparel, our versatile clothing is designed to serve multiple purposes, providing great value for your investment.
Sustainability: Using everyday clothes for climbing means you're consuming fewer resources, which is a win for the environment. At Rúngne Apparel, we take sustainability a step further by working with certified suppliers and materials in our production process, ensuring that our versatile clothing is not only functional but also eco-friendly.
Less Waste: By using the same clothes for climbing and daily life, you reduce the amount of clothing waste that ends up in landfills. Rúngne embraces this concept by creating garments that can be used for multiple activities, helping you cut down on waste while looking and feeling great.
Space-saving: Having one wardrobe for both climbing and everyday life saves space in your closet and simplifies your life. Rúngnes versatile clothing means you won't need a separate set of clothes for your climbing sessions, giving you more room to breathe (and maybe even add more gear to your collection!).
Now, let's dive into how our Rúngne Apparel gear keeps you looking sharp and feeling great, no matter the setting.
Fabrics that flex: Rúngne uses stretchy, breathable fabrics that move with you. So whether you're reaching for that elusive hold or stretching for the top shelf at the grocery store, you'll feel comfy and unrestricted in our clothes.
Sweat-wicking wonders: Our clothing is designed to wick sweat away from your body, keeping you dry and fresh all day long. No more awkwardly trying to air out your damp clothes before meeting up with friends!
Subtle style: Rúngnes designs are intentionally less flashy than typical sportswear. Our clothing can easily transition from the gym to the streets without turning heads (unless it's because you look so darn good).
Multipurpose magic: Many of our garments are designed with versatility in mind. Our climbing pants, for example, feature a casual, stylish cut that's perfect for both scaling walls and strolling downtown.
So go ahead, embrace the convenience and benefits of versatile clothing with Rúngne. Climb hard and play harder, knowing that our gear has you covered from gym to crag and everywhere in between. Say goodbye to packing separate outfits and hello to the ultimate crag-to-café look. And remember: with Rúngne, you'll always feel great and do great!
]]>Ah, summer – the season when climbers trade gym time for outdoor adventures. As passionate climbers, we naturally want to protect our wild playgrounds. So, whether you're a sport enthusiast or just climb for fun, here are four simple ways to climb green and eco-friendly.
Prep Like a Pro
Planning is key to minimizing your environmental footprint. Rethink your transportation – do you need a car, or could you bike instead? If driving is essential, carpool or investigate public transport options for you and your buddies. Also, minimize waste by prepping meals in reusable containers, rather than relying on single-use packaging. Mother Earth will thank you!
Get the Lowdown
Whether you're a newbie or seasoned climber, knowing the local environmental policies and guidelines is crucial. Research the area, respect any restrictions, and remember: you're a guest in nature's home.
Make Your Mark… Disappear
"Leave no trace" isn't just a catchy phrase – it's a golden rule. Make sure you don't leave anything behind, whether it's trash, gear, or even toilet paper. Keep our climbing spots pristine for future generations!
Join the Eco-Warriors
Conservation efforts always need a helping hand. Find an organization that aligns with your values and get involved. Just make sure they're legit, dedicated to their mission, and eco-friendly in their operations.
In Conclusion: Climb On, Sustainably!
By adopting these eco-friendly habits, you can enjoy your climbing passion while caring for nature. Get your friends on board or join clubs and organizations that share your values. Small steps can make a big difference – and who knows, you might just meet some awesome, like-minded people along the way!
]]>Hey there, earth-loving friends! If you're on the lookout for a tee that's all about comfort and sustainability, then Rúngnes Sloper Tee has got you covered. This fantastic tee is made from a blend of 50% EcoVero and 50% recycled polyester. Ready to find out why EcoVero is so cool? Keep reading!
EcoVero fabric, what's the deal?
EcoVero is this groovy type of viscose that comes from sustainable wood sourced with Mother Earth in mind. These trees are certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes). Austrian-based Lenzing, a green-loving leader in sustainable viscose, is behind this magical fabric.
EcoVero: Sustainability superhero?
You bet! EcoVero outshines traditional viscose in the eco-friendly department. The trees are from forests near Lenzing's production facilities, so CO2 emissions from transport are cut in half. Plus, it's way kinder to water resources. And with a nifty tracking system, you can follow your fabric's journey from start to finish.
EcoVero's feel-good properties
EcoVero is like a hug from silk—super soft and comfy! The fabric's cellulose fibers work wonders in moisture management, making it breathable and excellent for thermal regulation. It can even absorb four times its weight in water. With its airy nature, EcoVero is perfect for clothes that touch your skin.
The biodegradable bonus
EcoVero comes from wood pulp, meaning it breaks down easily without any toxic waste.
EcoVero vs. other textile fibers
EcoVero's production leaves a 50% smaller eco-footprint on emissions and water than cotton, for example.
Is EcoVero organic?
Absolutely! EcoVero originates from organic wood pulp. Although some chemicals are used to transform the pulp into yarn, the final product is biodegradable.
Breathable EcoVero, say what?
You heard it right! EcoVero's cellulose fibers are designed to regulate moisture absorption and release, making it super breathable and great for your body's thermal regulation. So go on, let EcoVero keep you cool this summer!
]]>"Technical" is a term often thrown around by clothing manufacturers, but what's it all about, really?
Well, we took a deep dive into the word's roots (hello, Greek word "techne") and discovered it's all about "art" and "completing a task" through craft, skill, and technique.
The Art of Task Completion
At Rúngne, when we design a garment, we start by identifying its purpose, the stresses it'll face, and the unique properties we want it to possess. But here's the catch: clothes should be versatile, suited for as many situations as possible! That means our creations must excel in their core function while adapting to various weather conditions and uses.
Our vision? To make everyday clothes as comfy and functional as sportswear, so you can move and play to your heart's content.
The Fabric Balancing Act
Choosing the main fabric for a Rúngne garment is a delicate dance. We have to strike the perfect balance between desired traits – like waterproofness vs. breathability or durability vs. comfort. It's a bit of an art form, but extensive field-testing helps us gauge a fabric's suitability for its intended use.
Synthetic vs. Organic: The Great Debate
Technical clothing often leans towards synthetic fibers like polyamide and polyester, and for good reason! While cotton and wool have their merits, synthetic fibers boast superior overall properties. Even military institutions, known for their demanding standards, have made the switch. But don't write off blended fabrics just yet – we're excited about the potential of synthetic and organic blends in this realm.
In a Nutshell Technical clothing is all about excelling in a specific purpose. So, if you're rocking non-stretchy denim for climbing, they're technically your go-to climbing pants! The definition of "technical" is subjective, so grab your favorite gear and let's embrace the adventure.
]]>Guess what? I've spent most of my life rockin' shorts, and they've been pretty great for climbing, running, or swimming. But hey, why not have one pair that does it all, right? Less closet clutter, lighter suitcase, and I can dive into the sea after climbing without lookin' like a mess.
Enter the Crag Shorts, our sleek solution. We'd already been working on the Harness Pants, and their sweet Fighter fabric was perfect for these shorts too. Light, quick-drying, moisture-wicking, and stylish? Yes, please!
The Crag Shorts are like the mini-me of the Harness Pants and let me tell ya, they're super versatile. Great for climbing, no sticky fabric, and maximum mobility. Plus, we added a gusset in the crotch 'cause we've all seen a climber with a, ahem, wardrobe malfunction.
We made sure these bad boys are "commando-proof" – tough seams and threads that won't let you down. And as swim shorts? They dry super fast! Just don't ask me about my freezing 6°C swim in Lofoten – brrr!
So yeah, I'm pretty proud of our Crag Shorts, and I know climbers everywhere will dig 'em too.
]]>I have reached many life goals with only a pair of worn-out chalky shorts and climbing shoes, but there is some truth to the saying in social and professional settings.
The few times I dress up a little, I feel more confident. Maybe because I rarely wear anything else than very casual wear, I can tell the difference. Instead of making a technical T-shirt, I wanted to make a pique shirt that looks as classy as it feels comfortable.
In making the Highball Polo, we made shirts of a variety of technical pique fabrics from around Europe. I initially wanted a super lightweight fabric with technical properties that keeps me dry and mobile. Our contact in Sofileta convinced us to try a new development from their mill in France - Ascott: a rather heavy Stretch Jacquard knit. Almost three times heavier than the lightest fabric we tested. The feeling of this fabric was fascinating: incredibly soft and an impressive ability to suck up body moisture and evaporate quickly.
The Highball looks quite elegant and "expensive" in how it drapes. In contrast to the light fabrics we tested, it shapes very well.
I never liked the collar of classic polo shirts. They look very flat and curl in opposite directions. There is no way I'm going to iron any of my clothes - ever. So I gave the design team the challenge to make a classic-looking collar that doesn't curl. I learned that the collar is typically made from matching rib-knit fabric that curves easily after wash. We decided to use the primary material and make a classic unconstructed shirt collar. I think the collar looks sharp yet feels very soft. And I don't have to iron it ;-)
Dear friends, do not follow my example and undress for success, but dress up for success ;-) I hope you will get the chance to experience Hardball Polo. It gives a unique feeling, and I think it looks pretty elegant, too.
]]>I wanted to make a sweater that could replace all my sweaters and fleece jackets. My perfect sweater would be something like this:
I wanted to make a sweater that goes under the Crux overshirt or a shell jacket as a mid-layer on cold days and as a warm, breathable sweater on regular days. I have a long and wide range of experience wearing and testing technical fleece sweaters, and they all have had their limits. I initially wanted a fleece sweater. Fleece gives an incredible instant warmth, but they tend to look a bit soggy and soft. Another issue I have with fleece is that it quickly loses its furry inside with wear and wash.
The design team came up with various samples in the development process and I and I immediately got impressed with Polartec's Power Air's firmness and sturdy appearance. Polartec is worldwide known for its insulation fabrics, used by professionals all over the world.
After using and testing the Belay Crew sweater for months in harsh Norwegian weather, I believe we have made a product that serves many people and multiple purposes.
The capsuled fleece pockets inside the sweater, reportedly inspired by bubble plastic, incapsulate body heat very efficiently.
After using and testing the Belay Crew sweater for months in Norwegian breezy summer nights and harsh fall weather, I believe we have made a product that serves many people for multiple purposes. After swimming in the freezing cold fjords of Lofoten, the Belay Crew felt like a big warm hug. The capsuled "fleece pockets" inside the sweater, reportedly inspired by bubble plastic, incapsulate body heat very efficiently. Polartec's intention was to make an insulating fabric that sheds a lot less microplastic than fury fleece does. It sheds 5 times less than other high-end fleece fabrics on the market, which applies very well with Rúngne's vision to be an environmental frontrunner in the garment industry.
The insulating inside of the fabric is not furry as fleece. To begin with, I was a bit reluctant to do that, since I really like the cozy feeling of it. But after a look in my closet, I realized that the fluffy and soft inside quickly turns bubbly and compressed. Another benefit is that it's not electrostatic and doesn't stick to the baselayer and restricts my movements. And above all: it doesn't make my hairdo as Einstein's when I take the sweater on and off!
The Belay Crew is one of my favourite garments in my collection. I really recommend one of the strong colours of the Belay Crew. It looks great and it makes you happy;-)

Ah, the age-old dilemma of a wandering adventurer: finding the perfect pair of pants that can handle both epic climbs and fancy dinners without making you look like a climbing bum. Enter the Harness pants, the brainchild of countless globetrotting escapades and a few unfortunate incidents involving lost luggage.
I've often wondered why sports pants are so darn comfy, while regular pants can be stiff, heavy, and prone to soaking up sweat and rain like a sponge. Turns out, it's all about the fabric! Cotton may look great, but it's not exactly the best choice for active folks. On the other hand, technical fabrics offer fantastic moisture-wicking and stretch properties but can appear a tad too sporty for everyday wear.
So I challenged my RÚNGNE team to craft the ultimate pair of pants that combine comfort, style, and durability. It might sound simple, but let me tell you, it took plenty of blood, sweat, and tears (plus a whole lotta love) to get it right.
We tested various fabrics from all across Europe before discovering the Fighter fabric, a superb offering from a small family-owned mill in France. And so began the real-life field tests.
For two weeks, I wore the Harness pants non-stop, doing all the things I love (including biking to work instead of driving my car). First impressions? Unbelievably comfortable. It felt like I was wearing sweatpants, so I had to double-check in the mirror to make sure they still looked as stylish as they were meant to be.
These pants don't just feel good, though – they're also amazingly functional. When I commuted in the rain, they got wet (they're not rain pants, after all), but they dried in a mere 15 minutes! And when I spilled water on them, it just rolled right off. Sure, this feature will wear out over time, but we've used the highest-quality treatment to make it last as long as possible.
Of course, the ultimate test for any pair of pants is rock climbing. I put the Harness pants through their paces, really pushing their elasticity and durability. When the rise seam cracked (as it has on many other pants I've worn), our design team and manufacturer worked tirelessly to make the seams as stretchy as the fabric itself.
The result? A pair of pants unlike any other – ready to conquer the world, one stylish adventure at a time.
]]>Given that I don’t walk around shirtless most of the time, I wanted to make something that came close to the feeling of wearing nothing. My dream shirt would be something like this:
A typical use for me would be biking back and forth to the climbing gym with scattered rain or going straight from outdoor bouldering to dinner with friends.
I will not bother you too much with the tedious details of garment construction and fabric development. But I will tell you this much: It became apparent why my dream shirt was not something I found with a simple google search. The combination of stretchy, light materials and a classic shirt design is tough to manufacture with high enough quality. On top of that, finding a fabric that met my technical and aesthetically requirements was as challenging as climbing an 8b+ boulder while having an argument with my girlfriend on the phone.
As with all products, we did a lot of real-life testing. One feature that I appreciated was the water- and dirt repellent treatment. I usually don't spill coffee, but when my arms are filled with lactic acid, it happens. It just rolls off the fabric. Another feature that really impressed me is how little care it needed. No washing, no ironing, no nothing really.
The final result is a shirt I proudly recommend to anyone looking for a true overshirt, always ready to make your next move.
